Tonight, celebrity chef and Food Network star Geoffrey Zakarian will cook up some of his incredible culinary creations for an exclusive group of influential social media foodies as Norwegian Cruise Line hosts the weekly International #FoodieChats Twitter Chat live from Zakarian’s restaurant in New York City, The Lambs Club.
The #FoodieChats theme for the night is #NorwegianBreakaway and the conversation topics will focus on the incredible food found on board the line’s new ship, arriving in New York in May 2013. To experience the flavors of Norwegian Breakaway first-hand, a select group of New York City foodies and “tweeters” received an invitation to eat and tweet live from The Lambs Club. Geoffrey Zakarian will be there to personally prepare and serve attendees some of his favorite vacation-inspired cocktails and bites.
Since its inception in 2011, #FoodieChats has generated a world-wide following and averages 20 million weekly impressions, has more than two million followers and involves over 500 contributors every week – from tweeters in every major city in the United States and internationally in countries such as Australia, Belize, Canada, Dominican Republic, France, Spain and more. Every Monday, creator Steve Green hosts the Twitter “chat” using the hashtag #FoodieChats asking the community 10 questions centered on that week’s food-related theme. Participants respond to the questions via Twitter, sharing photos and personal experiences related to each question.
The #FoodieChats Twitter chat takes place every Monday at 8pm EST and is extremely successful in generating buzz and creating conversations around the very popular topic of food. Norwegian hosted their first #FoodieChats from the company’s corporate office test kitchen on October 21, 2012. The very successful event garnered over 15 million impressions and generated overwhelmingly positive social buzz about Norwegian Breakaway, the largest ship to ever home port in NYC year round, and presents a unique opportunity for Norwegian to spread the word about the ship and the line’s attention to culinary detail to a wide audience via social media.
