The Tampa Port Authority Board of Commissioners today approved A. Paul Anderson as the authority’s next port director and chief executive. Anderson will succeed Richard Wainio, who had served in the position since March 2005.
The TPA board directed William “Hoe” Brown, board chairman, to negotiate an employment contract to be brought back to the full board for approval.
Anderson has a distinguished, 30-year professional career serving in senior level public and private sector positions. He currently serves as the chief executive officer of the Jacksonville Port Authority.
He served five years on the Federal Maritime Commission by Presidential appointment.
Anderson has significant experience working with large maritime-related transportation companies, and has extensive governmental agency experience at the national, state and local levels.
He serves in various leadership capacities with the Florida Ports Council, and is chairman of the Florida Ports Financing Commission.
Moreover, he is actively involved in numerous business and community service boards and committees. Anderson is a graduate of the University of Florida.
