The Caribbean Tourism Organization has partnered with Virtual Tourist to collect information from potential summer cruise travellers visiting the region. Virtual Tourist is an worldwide online travel community where travellers and locals share travel experiences and advice.
Director of Research and Information Management at the Caribbean Tourism Organization Winfield Griffith says “ CTO is using the strength of the Virtual Tourist 65,000 member database to obtain information regarding the views of prospective visitors as the organization seeks answers as to why the demand for cruises in the summer is as low as it is.”
Griffith says in doing so the organization may be able to put measures in place to address this and thus improve on numbers.
Of the Virtual Tourist’s company’s members, 9422 are from Europe, 8100 from North America,5107 from Asia and 1318 from Australia and Oceania. The others will be drawn from Africa, the Caribbean and Central America and the Middle East.
The survey which has already begun closes Oct. 19. A lucky winner will receive two tickets for a cruise to the Caribbean in summer 2013 on Carnival Cruises.
CTO members are encouraged to join Virtual Travel to share their travel stories.
