Celebrity Names Gregory Purdy Senior Vice President of Operations

Celebrity Cruises today announced the promotion of Gregory Purdy to Senior Vice President of Operations. Previously Vice President of Marine Operations for the modern luxury line, Purdy now will complement his leadership of Celebrity’s Marine Operations with that of Celebrity’s Hotel Operations, including Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Casino, AquaSpa/fitness and retail operations.

“Under Greg’s leadership, Celebrity has been recognized for its development of innovative energy efficiencies and safety measures. He and the Marine Operations team  — together with the Hotel Operations team he’ll also now lead — collaborated closely in successfully launching our stunning Solstice Class fleet and leading the ambitious ‘Solsticizing’ initiative, all of which have transformed the Celebrity brand,” said Celebrity’s President & CEO Michael Bayley. “I’m confident Greg’s inspiring leadership and deep knowledge of all aspects of the business will help us build on the exciting growth and momentum behind the brand.”

Purdy joined sister line Royal Caribbean International in 2001 to manage its safety training program. His responsibilities grew to encompass the company’s safety and environmental programs; development of comprehensive fleet quality assurance systems; and coordination with authorities for numerous innovative aspects of Celebrity’s Solstice Class ships.

In addition to the Marine group, Purdy now also leads the extraordinary team that developed all aspects of Celebrity’s modern luxury experience, including specialty restaurants like the industry-first Lawn Club Grill, eclectic Qsine, Mediterranean-themed Blu and elegant Murano; spa-inspired AquaClass accommodations; the hip Celebrity iLounge. and breathtaking aerial acts, all while sailing to many of the best destinations around the world.

Purdy serves on the Board of Directors of Children’s Harbor, a non-profit organization in Broward County assisting children and families.
