Le Havre has kicked off its 2012 season with a visit from Cunard Line’s Queen Elizabeth, departing on her first world voyage.
“Cruise activity is a fast growing business at Le Havre and efforts to attract cruise lines are paying off. 2012 is a great year overcoming the symbolic number of 100 calls,” said a statement from the port.
In 2012, Costa Crociere will use the port as a turnaround base, sailing 11 cruises to the Baltic. Royal Caribbean International and Oceania Cruises will also turn around at Le Havre.
The 2012 season has 116 calls scheduled, representing some 230,000 cruise passengers, up from 95 calls and 185,000 in 2011.
