John Cushing, a highly accomplished IT audit professional with extensive experience in the hotel and cruise industries, has been named vice president of technology audit services for Miami-based Carnival Corporation & plc.

In this capacity, Cushing is responsible for overseeing the global technology audit services function, which assesses IT-related risks and opportunities across the organization’s 10 cruise brands.  He also supports the professional development of the technology audit staff.

Cushing began his association with Carnival Corporation at subsidiary Holland America Line in 1999 where he served as a senior information system auditor.  He transferred to Miami two years later to join the corporate team, managing the technology audit services group, eventually becoming senior director. In his current role, as vice president of technology audit services, Cushing reports to Richard Brilliant, senior vice president and chief audit executive for Carnival Corp. & plc.

Cushing has 20 years of financial, operational and IT audit experience, including 15 years in the hospitality and cruise industries.  Prior to joining Carnival Corporation & plc, he worked for several years at Marriott International in an internal audit capacity.

“John is an essential part of our team and effectively oversees multiple responsibilities across all 10 cruise lines, while also coordinating assessment activity with local IT management and external auditors,” said Brilliant.  “He is highly skilled in foreseeing potential IT-related security risks across the corporation.”

Cushing earned a bachelor of science in accounting from Virginia Tech and received his CPA designation in 1993.
