Louis Majesty to Drydock This Winter

Louis Group, which oversees Louis Cruises, has decided not to deploy the Louis Majesty out of Genoa and Marseilles this coming winter, a spokesperson confirmed to Cruise Industry News (CIN).

Yesterday, CIN reported the cancellation of the winter season for the Majesty.

“The decision not to deploy the Majesty out of Genoa and Marseilles this coming winter is in essence the second step in materializing our strategic decision to focus on our operations out of Piraeus until suitable tonnage is found that will enable us to return to the Western Mediterranean with a product that would be compatible with the company’s strategic positioning and the ongoing process to renew the Louis Cruises fleet,” explained Michalis Maratheftis, communications director, Louis Group.

The Majesty, last winter, was moved to Piraeus to replace the Aquamarine when that vessel was sold to interests in Mexico. “The move was in line with the company’s strategic decision to focus on and also substantially upgrade the company’s cruise programs out of Piraeus,” said Maratheftis.

“The Louis Majesty will continue its cruise programs out of Greece until the end of the season and will then undergo her annual maintenance and dry docking so as to have her ready in March for the 2012 season out of Piraeus,” he added.
