More Details: All That Cruise, Korean Start Up

Monarch of the Seas (pictured), or one of her sister ships like the Majesty of the Seas or the Pullmantur Sovereign could be headed for KoreaEarlier this week the Korean media reported that All That Cruise, a new Korean cruise line, had purchased a ship and was scheduled to start sailing in January 2012, with sources indicating it was a Sovereign-class ship, the Majesty of the Seas, from Royal Caribbean International.

Since then that rumor has been denied by the cruise line, but a person familiar with the situation in Korea told Cruise Industry News that All That Cruise will take delivery of the vessel in October, 2011, and has bought the ship from Royal Caribbean.

The plan calls the ship to head to Samsung Heavy Industries for a refit in November and December before starting service in January.

All That Cruise’s website clearly shows pictures of a Sovereign-class vessel, but, it wouldn’t be the first time a project has “launched,” seeking financing.

The Norwegian Dream has also been for sale by Star Cruises for some time.

All That Cruise plans to finance the vessel over the course of seven years, but also, according to another Korean source, is also planning to sell “condominium-like” memberships.

In 2010, Royal Caribbean Cruises sold CDF’s Bleu de France to Saga Shipping for a reported $55 million, which was one of the older ships in the fleet.

Pullmantur’s Atlantic Star has also been reported to be for sale, and is currently laid up in France, previous rumors of a sale have not come to fruition.

In addition to those two ships, the three Sovereign-class ships are the oldest in Royal’s fleet, with the former Sovereign of the Seas currently sailing as the Pullmantur Sovereign while the Majesty and Monarch of the Seas sail for Royal Caribbean.
