Saga Cruises has scheduled a “Farewell” voyage on its recently-acquired Saga Pearl II, set to depart from Southampton on April 22, 2012.
Sources told Cruise Industry News that the ship is moving to the company’s Spirit of Adventure brand.
Saga operates the Spirit of Adventure brand, with the sole 9,570-ton Spirit of Adventure, aimed at younger passengers. Saga had originally planned for the Pearl II to be a sister ship for the Spirit of Adventure.
Saga bought the ship during auction, following Transocean’s bankruptcy, in 2009
Saga will take delivery of the Blue de France from CDF (owned by Royal Caribbean) later this year, launching in 2012 as the Saga Sapphire, and joining the 18,591-ton Pearl II (at least through April 2012) and 24,292-ton Saga Ruby.
Saga branded cruises require guest to be over the age of 50 years old, unless they “happen to be over 40, but are accompanied by a responsible adult over 50,” according to the line.
