Navico’s Simrad Brand Enters into Strategic Cooperation with Consilium

Marine electronics giant Navico has entered into a cooperative partnership with marine safety and navigation specialist Consilium through it’s Simrad brand with the intent to offer new and innovative products for the world’s commercial vessel fleet.

Through their strategic and technological alliance, the two companies first aim to significantly change the comprehension of short range radar target detection and processing, offering very advanced – yet operator-friendly – products. The goal is to introduce radar systems for use on SOLAS vessels with a strong focus on piracy attack detection and for other workboats that have much use for this new technology.

Navico is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of marine electronics and the parent company to well-known brands Simrad, B&G and Lowrance. With a differentiated offering spanning all marine industry segments, Navico and the Simrad brand are internationally recognized for its revolutionary technology development.

“Our collaboration really benefits from the unique combination of solid state FMCW radar technology and decades of IMO navigational radar experience. We look forward to developing revolutionary products that will give our customers an advantage,” says Director Professional Market, Tim Ryder of Navico.

Consilium is a world-leading supplier in selected niche segments, with operations in 18 of the most important countries in shipbuilding, shipping and the oil and gas industry. The company has over 30 years of experience in marine and safety equipment.

Products will be brought to market under both the Simrad and Consilium brands.
