On March 21st 2010, a new political team led by Mr. Serge Letchimy took the reign of Martinique Regional Council, a local government in charge of economic development.
Once elected President of the Regional Council, Mr. Letchimy appointed Mrs. Karine Roy-Camille Tourism Commissioner and President of the Martinique Tourism Authority.
Mrs. Karine Roy-Camille has more than twenty years’ experience in selling cruises as a director in a travel agency and has proved to be a dynamic and keen advocate of the cruise industry as the former President of the Martinique Cruise Tourism Association.
With the full support of the President of the Regional Council and her Board of Directors, Mrs. Roy-Camille has already started implementing a few measures in favor of the cruise industry such as:
• Heavily investing on awareness campaigns to the importance of tourism development and nature preservation.
• Working closer with the private sector
• Revamping and restructuring the tourist product
• Investing more money in communication to the cruise industry
• Promoting and encouraging innovation

Discovering the Balata Gardens’ canopy on aerial paths

Depaz distillery opens its “Château” to the public
Being one of the most visited venues by cruise guests, the Depaz Distillery has recently opened its plantation house to the public.
Surrounded by a well-tended park and beautifully nestled at the foot of the majestic and famed Mount Pelée, the plantation house of the former master shelters a precious collection of artifacts, archive documents, Creole costumes, and antique furniture. A real invitation to a wonderful voyage into the life of yesteryear!
