Pictured here under construction at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in 1998 is the R1, the first in the second class of eight Renaissance ships (the company, under different ownership both times, built eight ships on two separate occasions). Eventually ceasing operations shortly after the turn of the century, the R1 ended up as the Insignia for Oceania Cruises.
