There is an above average need for safety at sea, as ships harbour specific fire risks. In the event of emergency, rapid and effective fire fighting is of the essence. Minifog marine XP guarantees new dimensions in the marine segment: With the use of the Minifog marine XP water mist extinguishing system the demand for minimising its need for space and weight on ships is satisfied to an extremely high degree. Compared with classic sprinkler systems Minifog marine XP requires up to 90 percent less extinguishing water in the event of fire. Due to this extremely low need for extinguishing water, the system*s piping and water supply are small and easily laid out. Less need for space for piping in turn significantly facilitates retrofitting.
A further advancement in new and unique dimensions is the surface coverage: One single Minifog marine XP sprinkler achieves coverage in ship cabins of up to 32 square metres. Enlargement of the coverage likewise applies to the six-metre sprinkler spacing in the corridors now possible. In total the Minifog marine XP system requires far fewer sprinklers than usual. Consequently the piping network has fewer branches and fewer fittings. As a side effect this not only means a saving in system costs but also a lower total extinguishing system weight. Fuel costs can be reduced.
The minimized number of sprinklers permit the ceiling fixtures design in passenger, public and storage areas to be significantly simplified: Fewer sprinklers mean more freedom in positioning lamps, loud-speakers, air exhausts etc. Moreover, the fewer number of sprinklers reduces penetration points in the ceiling and hence time and labour in the ceiling construction. The Minifog marine XP sprinklers and nozzles are made entirely of stainless steel. The sprinklers have an appealing design and come in all colours.
Minifog marine XP not only protects a ship*s passenger, public and storage areas, but also the entire engine room. For the total engine room protection – including item and bilge protection – only one single type of nozzle is required. Hence there is no danger of confusion in the nozzle installation. This results in no erroneous installations, which could delay completion. A foaming agent mix for the extin-guishing water is unnecessary, due to the effective high-pressure water mist technology. A separate system, such as a CO2 extinguishing system with cylinder battery, is also not necessary for the engine room protection.
