Cruise Down Under Congratulates Andrew McEvoy

South Australian Tourism Commission chief executive Andrew McEvoy has been appointed as the new head of Tourism Australia commencing January 2010.

Mr McEvoy has been Chief Executive Officer of the South Australian Tourism Commission since July 2007 where he has been a motivational leader to the organisation in its goal to achieve a 6.3 billion tourism industry by 2014.

“Tourism Australia could not have chosen a better person to lead the tourism industry into the future and the Cruise Down Under industry body would like to congratulate Mr McEvoy on his appointment”, Chairman Richard Doyle said.

Andrew McEvoy is a strong supporter of the cruise industry in Australia, with his extensive cruise industry knowledge, he has recently lead the ‘Southern Ocean Cruising’ initiative in South Australia, where the SATC is proactively seeking cruise lines to undertake new and exciting itineraries between Fremantle, Adelaide, Melbourne and Tasmania.

Having over 20 years tourism experience across regional, state and national tourism bodies Andrew understands and is committed to the vital partnerships between government, industry bodies and local communities.

Cruise Down Under welcomes Andrew to his new appointment and looks forward to strong and fruitful partnerships with Tourism Australia in the future.
