Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has reported net income of $15.4 million on revenues of $478.4 million for its second quarter ended June 30, 2009, compared to a net loss of $27.0 million on revenues of $525 million for the same period last year.
NCL attributed the decline in revenues partially to having less capacity with the departure of the Norwegian Dream in November of 2008 and to the continued weakness in passenger ticket pricing, partially offset by an increase in onboard and other revenue.
NCL said that its capacity for the remainder of 2009 is substantially booked although at prices below last year, particularly in the third quarter.
