Bermuda Votes ‘No’ on Casinos

Bermuda has voted not to allow cruise ships to open their casinos while in port.

Premier Dr. Ewart Brown, minister of tourism and transport, said in a prepared statement that the vote was clear and all uncertainty was removed. Cruise lines and tourism partners now know where they stand, he said, and can plan accordingly.

The bill, known as the Prohibition of Gaming Machines Amendment Act of 2009, was voted on by the House of Assembly on July 10. The matter had been on the agenda for some time.
