Royal Caribbean Announces 2010 Summer Nordic Cruise Holidays

Royal Caribbean International, the world’s largest cruise brand, today announced the return of Vision of the Seas to the North and Baltic seas for a second summer season in 2010. Dedicated to the Nordic market from April to September 2010, Vision of the Seas will feature 14 distinct itineraries on 24 sailings to 34 ports in 14 countries from the homeports of Copenhagen, Denmark; Oslo, Norway; and Stockholm, Sweden. Bookings for Royal Caribbean’s 2010 Baltic and North Sea cruises are now open.

Brand-new for the 2010 season are an 11-night Arctic Circle cruise from Copenhagen; seven-night itineraries featuring St. Petersburg out of Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm; nine-night British Isles & Normandy voyages from Oslo; and the addition of a new series of four- and five-night short cruises from Stockholm. New ports of call for Royal Caribbean International will include Edinburgh, Scotland; Olden and Tromso, Norway; and Riga, Latvia. And maiden ports of call for Vision of the Seas will include Gdansk, Poland; Honningsvag, Norway (the port for Cape North, the northernmost point of Europe, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Arctic Ocean); Inverness/Loch Ness, Scotland; and Gothenburg, Sweden.

The 11-night Arctic Circle itinerary will feature a day of cruising through the Arctic Circle, enabling guests to soak in a palate of ever-changing and extraordinary scenery: the stark yet dramatic scenery of the Arctic landscape; the magnificent and verdant Norwegian Fjords; and the unforgettable and colorful Midnight Sun. The sailings will call at the picturesque and captivating Norwegian ports of Alesund, Honningsvag, Tromso, Geiranger, Olden and Bergen.

In addition to Russia’s opulent and magnificent imperial capital, the nine sailings featuring St. Petersburg will visit a cornucopia of historic and intriguing ports. They include Gdansk, birthplace of the Solidarity movement with a charming Old Town; medieval Visby on the Swedish island of Gotland; Helsinki, Finland’s historic capital; and Copenhagen, which became Denmark’s capital in the 15th century. The three sailings from Stockholm also will visit Riga, Latvia, while the three sailings from Oslo also will visit Tallinn, Estonia. One six-night itinerary featuring St. Petersburg also will sail on 5 July from Stockholm.

A nine-night British Isles & Normandy itinerary, departing on 6 May and 20 May, will visit a host of fascinating and historically significant destinations. The portfolio of ports will include France’s Cherbourg and Le Havre (the port for Paris), allowing guests to enjoy the elegant and romantic “City of Lights”; Scotland’s Inverness and Edinburgh, one of the most beautiful cityscapes in the world; and Dublin, Ireland.

For travelers short on time but yearning for adventure, the new series of four- and five-night Short Break and Scandinavian Capitals itineraries will feature calls at Amsterdam, Holland, with its myriad canals and world-class museums; Brugges, Brussels, dubbed the Venice of the North; and Tallinn, Estonia, a World Heritage site. Other ports on short cruises include Gdansk, Visby, Gothenburg, Helsinki, Copenhagen, St. Petersburg, and Oslo.

Vision of the Seas features two acres of dazzling glass walls, affording guests sweeping vistas as the Baltic landscapes unfold. Guests can try their hands at the ships’ iconic rock-climbing walls for an even more thrilling view from the ship’s highest point or enjoy a myriad of rejuvenating spa treatments in the Vision Day Spa. Younger guests will be entertained and enlightened in the cruise line’s award-winning Adventure Ocean and teen programming, with scheduled activities led by a college-graduate counselor beginning as early as 9:00 a.m. and concluding at 2:00 a.m. In the evenings, guests can enjoy the cruise lines award-winning Broadway-style musical revues from Royal Caribbean Productions shows; try their hand in a game in the Casino Royale; and reflect on the day’s experiences in multiple onboard bars and lounges over cocktails. Throughout, all guests enjoy Royal Caribbean’s friendly and engaging Gold Anchor Service from every staff and crew.
