Itineraries Change to Avoid Hurricane Omar

Hurricane Omar is predicted to pass over Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands early Thursday, causing several itinerary changes.

The Carnival Triumph, on a seven-day cruise from Miami, will skip St. Thomas, San Juan and Grand Turk Wednesday through Friday and instead call in Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

The Carnival Glory, on a seven-day cruise from Port Canaveral, will spend Wednesday at sea instead of visiting St. Maarten and call in Grand Turk on Thursday instead of the scheduled sea day.

The storm has caused Royal Caribbean International to alter the Mariner of the Seas’ itinerary. The ship, which departed Port Canaveral on Sunday, will not sail to St. Thomas on Wednesday and St. Maarten on Thursday as planned. Instead she will spend Wednesday at sea, visit Grand Cayman on Thursday, Cozumel on Friday, and spend Saturday at sea, a Royal Caribbean spokeswoman said.

Disney Cruise Line will send the Disney Magic to the Bahamas to avoid the storm, spending Wednesday at sea rather than calling in St. Thomas. She’ll be in Nassau on Thursday.

It wasn’t immediately clear what Princess Cruises planned to do with the Crown Princess scheduled for St. Thomas on Thursday.
