With its beautiful beaches, tropical rainforest, vibrant history and culture and delectable food and spices, Grenada is an island that beckons to all. As more and more travelers discover Grenada every day, this Caribbean gem is on its way to becoming one of the most sought after destinations in the region.
To help spread the word about the “Spice of the Caribbean” and all of the island’s new developments in tourism, the Grenada Board of Tourism will host a 2008 Road Show from September 16th – 19th. Travel agents and tour operators across the Northeast United States are invited to attend and learn all about the destination, as well as exciting plans for Grenada including the addition of new flights from top airline carriers, the construction of multiple four and five-star resorts, and the re-development of local tourist areas.
The seminars will take place in select states/cities in the Northeast including New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Baltimore. Scheduled from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., each presentation will feature free seminars that include an informative PowerPoint presentation detailing the island’s attractions, activities and accommodations. A complimentary dinner, trip giveaways and a Q&A session will also take place.
Participating in each seminar will be the Director of Tourism with the Grenada Board of Tourism, Jocelyn Sylvester-Gairy, as well as more than 10 Grenadian hoteliers.
Grenada is fast becoming one of the hottest destinations in the Caribbean. Beginning November 2, 2008, American Airlines will offer daily non-stop flights from Miami to Grenada. This past spring marked a ground breaking ceremony for the new Grenada Four Seasons Resort & Private Residences, a project developing 420 acres of land on the southeast coast of the island that is expected to complete phase one in 2011.
Several other new resort projects are popping up on the island as well, including the five-star beachfront resort in Calivigny Cove, the Mount Cinnamon Grenada villa complex, which opened in March 2008, the exotic Le Phare Bleu Marina & Resort, luxury Grand Harbour Waterfront Residences, and the top-of-the-line Bacolet Bay Resort and Spa. The Port Louis Marina and Creole Village officially opened in January 2008 and will soon embark on a $24 million development project. Two new eco-friendly resorts, Levera Resort and Spa and The Point, are set to open in 2009.
