“Navigator of the Seas” and “Brilliance of the Seas” will start and finish their voyages from Málaga

The Port of Málaga will be a home port for two of the biggest Royal Caribbean cruise ships: the “Navigator of the Seas” and the “Brilliance of the Seas”, in 2009 and 2010, respectively.

The Manager Director of Royal Caribbean in Spain, Mrs. Belén Wangüemert, is very excited about the new position of the shipping line, since the Port of Málaga “is an attractive place, well-known in the international sector and it has a strong local market” with very important connections by air, train and road, as well as a Passenger Terminal “which completely fulfils the expectations of the company”.

On the other hand, the President of the Port Authority, Mr. Enrique Linde, considers that the presence of Royal Caribbean in the Port of Málaga means “a qualitative jump and, at the same time, a great challenge because the port facilities must be in the best conditions and assume a great responsibility”.

Navigator of the Seas

The luxurious vessel “Navigator of the Seas” will arrive in Málaga during the Autum season in the next year 2009.

This cruiseship will make a total of six short voyages with departures and arrivals from the Port of Málaga. There are two different itineraries around the Mediterranean and the Eastern Atlantic Coast. The first of them lasts six days, travelling around Mediterranean corners, such as the French Coast, and finally arriving to Málaga Port. The other one, also starting in the Port of Málaga, will go through the Atlantic coasts, to discover Tenerife and Funchal, in a six days voyage.

Brilliance of the Seas

This cruise ship, which belongs to Radiance class, is a big one, 293 metres long. It has the capacity to host about 2,500 passengers and 869 crew members.

The future passengers of “Brilliance of the Seas” will be able to choose between the next itineraries: a seven nights voyage from Málaga, in which the travellers will visit the cities of Túnez, Rome, Ajaccio, Marsella, returning to Málaga again. And, the other one is a seven nights voyage to Canary Islands and Madeira, including calls in Lanzarote, Tenerife, La Palma y Madeira.

Communications

Malaga international airport, only 8 km away from the Port, is connected to the five continents. Railway is also important, the city has been connected to Madrid in 2 ½ hours by 2007. Road connections are the best way to get to neighbour cities of Granada in 60 minutes, Cordoba in 80 minutes, or Seville in 2 hours.

Calls in 2008

In this way, the shipping line consolidates its relation whit the Port of Málaga. Royal Caribbean is composed by Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Cruises, which brings to Málaga a total of 14 cruise ships in 2008.
