Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) has announced net earnings of $8.9 million on revenues of $120.9 million for Celebrity Cruises for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 1996, compared to net income of $2.5 million on revenues of $74.5 million for the same quarter last year.
Nine-month net income was $4.5 million on revenues of $317.3 million this year, compared to a net loss of $1.5 million on revenues of $213 million for the same period last year.
OSG and Celebrity did not release more details. But a Cruise Industry News estimate of 507,000 passenger cruise days (100 percent capacity) for the third quarter this year and 350,000 last year, would give Celebrity a per-passenger-day revenue of $238.46 this year, compared to $212.86 last year, and net income per passenger day of $17.55 this year, compared to $7.14 last year.
Costs and expenses were $111.9 million in the third quarter of this year compared to $72.0 million last year. On a per-passenger-day basis, costs and expenses were $220.71 this year, compared to $205.71 last year.
