NCL: Now Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Caribbean Line has announced that it will change its name to Norwegian Cruise Line in early 1988.

According to Rod McLeod, President of the line, “the word Caribbean is somewhat limiting. The horizon of the company has been expanded by several new moves. We have moved the Starward to San Juan and will be moving the Southward to Los Angeles.”

In addition, the company is planning cruise operations in Europe, primarily for Europeans.

In conjunction with the name change, NCL will also introduce a new logo. Landor Associates has designed the new logo which depicts a starburst sun etched into the side of a red maritime flag.
