A new cruise line, International Cruise Corporation (ICC), has announced that it will order two new ships by mid-summer. One ship will be operated on behalf of Club Mediterranee and will reflect the Club Med concept; the other will be a luxury vessel for some 550 passengers, operated and marketed by the cruise line.

The Chairman of ICC is Per Kloster, the 28-year-old son of Knut Kloster, who has majority ownership interests in Kloster Cruise. Per Kloster emphasized that ICC is a subsidiary of Peko A/S of Oslo, Norway, and is a separate entity from Kloster Cruise.

Per Kloster said that ICC’s objective is to become a leading international cruise line offering luxury, executive and club-type cruises.

The Club Med vessel, scheduled for delivery in December of 1988, has been designed by Norwegian architect Njal Eide, in cooperation with Club Med. Eide was the chief architect on the Royal Princess and has a long track record in passenger ship design.

ICC will also be building a luxury ship that Kloster said will offer services and amenities “comparable to Sea Goddess, but will be much larger, about 40,000 tons, and designed for worldwide operations.” A third ship is said to be under consideration.

Wartsila, Seebeckwerft and Bremer Vulka are among the shipyards on the short list.
