More New Ships

Carnival Cruise Lines reportedly has awarded Wartsila a $200 million contract for a 70,000-ton, 2,050-passenger ship, scheduled for introduction in Fall, 1989. It will be the line’s eighth vessel, bringing capacity to 10,528 berths. It is also the third announced newbuilding to pass the 2,000-passenger mark.

The Finnish Export Credit Fund will reportedly finance 80 percent of the cost.
